Review: Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Hair Treatment || chelseahkitty

This will be a quick review on a product I recently bought because it was cheap and smelled good. It's a "3 minute" hair treatment that claims to help restore dry damaged hair by the brand Garnier Fructis.
Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo

Dry, Damaged Hair
Info on the back

  • Cost: $4.68 at Walmart.
  • The texture is a little weird because it has tiny balls or seeds in it. Don't worry, they wash out easily. It's easy to work into the hair. I would only use this from your ears down to the ends of your hair, concentrating on the ends, or it may make your scalp oily. It has 3 different oils-Olive, Avocado, and Shea. The smell is amazing, very natural and summer-y.
  • Overall, I would repurchase this.
    • Pros: Smells great! Result was smooth, moisturized, and better looking hair.
    • Cons: Must leave on for longer than 3 minutes to see results. I only did about 5 minutes but will try longer next time to see if it will work even better.

*This product IS animal tested. I have been unable to find a hair treatment that is not animal tested; but, as always, if you know of any good brands/products that are cruelty free pleaaaaase let me know! :)

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you've tried anything else from this line of hair products. I'm really wanting to try the Fall Out stopping shampoo and conditioner because I tend to shed a lot :/

Quick Haul! (Kohl's) || chelseahkitty

Kohl's has some great clearance and sales items right now so when I stopped by to spend some "Kohl's Cash" coupons I found some really cute stuff! I know summer is almost over and I should be buying Fall clothes but at these prices I couldn't help myself.
Here's what I got:
As usual, Nala needed attention.

Cream and peach lace dress: $15 (clearance)

Mint/light teal jersey hoodie: $17 (sale)

Lightweight pattern shorts: $15 (sale)

Bird pattern and gold detailing

My favorite thing is definitely the lace and peach colored dress! It was $48 but marked down to only $14.99 on clearance. Have you found any good back-to-school/end of summer sales?
Please give me ideas/requests on twitter (@chelseahkitty) or in the comments below :)

Say NO To Animal Testing || chelseahkitty

Animal testing in this day and age is completely unnecessary. However, companies do it because it's cheaper and all they care about is money. The only way to stop these companies is to not buy their products! You may not feel like you make a difference by not buying 1 foundation from a company but if everyone did this it really could. I'm not saying I do not own any products from animal testing companies, but I really really try to avoid them at all costs. I thought this blog post would be helpful to have all the info in one place. I know I sometimes have trouble finding if a company is pro or against animal testing, so I hope this helps!

>>Here is an important statement from the PETA website: "In the U.S., no law requires that these types of products be tested on animals, and companies can choose not to sell their products in countries such as China, where tests on animals are required for cosmetics and other products. "
Companies who do not animal test:
Companies who do animal test:

Some companies I really love who are DO NOT TEST are:

Some big name companies that DO TEST on animals and should be avoided are:
  • Estee Lauder-which also owns many other popular brands. (Mac, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, Clinique..just to name a few)
  • Covergirl, Maybelline, Revlon, L'oreal
  • Proctor & Gamble (Own Herbal Essences and many other companies)

*If you want to learn more about animal testing beauty/cosmetic companies you can visit Beauty Without Bunnies to search for companies and see what their policy is. Some companies are very vague and sketchy about these things. Unless they outright state they do not animal test they probably do.

Disclaimer: This is not sponsored. All opinions are my own.  If I am given an animal tested product by a friend or family member I will of course take it-not everyone understands or is informed of animal testing and it would be rude to not accept a gift. I do my best to only use companies who are not big on animal testing, but I cannot always afford to throw away products that have already been purchased for me. However, I will not do sponsored reviews for companies that animal test.

Summer Nails! Review: Covergirl Glosstinis || chelseahkitty

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis Nail Polish (Pina Colada)

I've already done a review of the larger size of this brand in a coral color but these smaller ones have different colors and were limited edition for Summer 2013 so I had to grab one. Mine is the lighter yellow color called "Pina Colada." Here's my review!

  • Price: $2.99 at Target
  • Size: About half the size of the regular one I think? It's great for travel.
  • Color selection: Great summer colors! I wanted a light yellow, no idea why. It's a pretty pastel yellow that makes me look a little more tan-always a plus. I think it would look great on really tan or darker skin tones.
  • Application/Results: Comes with a tiny brush which is good and bad I guess. It went on streaky but 3 thin coats and it looked pretty good. Any more coats and I think it would start to bubble. It seemed really runny so I made a mess on my cuticles, oh well.
  • Overall: I still like it and will probably purchase other colors from this line! Again, the size is great for travel and the colors are great for summer.

Cute Find: JELLY SHOES! || chelseahkitty

Found at Target-sorry no link, not on their website :(
Price: ~$6.97

(photo taken in natural light, no editing)

They are actually kids shoes, but go up to a size 5/6 which is what I got. They are barely too small but I can deal with it because they're so cute! Hurry and get them before they're gone since they're on clearance. They also had thong jelly sandals but I only saw them in the colors green and yellow.
I can't find reasonable adult sized jelly shoes anywhere so if you know anywhere PLEASE let me know! They're great for summer and remind me of the 90s aka the best decade ever.

Review: Yes to Cucumbers Products || chelseahkitty

I bought the Yes to Cucumbers calming night cream after using the soothing gentle milk cleanser face wash and loving it. I also tried the travel size calming facial mask. They are great products from a great company that does not do animal testing. They also claim to be 98% natural and safe for sensitive skin.

Yes to Cucumbers Calming Night Cream
Info from company website.
  • Cost: $14.99 at Ulta
  • Feel: Non-greasy. Sinks into skin fast.
  • Smell: Cucumber-y. Some say it is a weird cucumber smell but it doesn't bother me.
  • Results: When I wake up in the morning my skin feels smooth. Dry patches are gone. I used to have bad dry patches around my nose but those have disappeared after using this for over a month. (Keep in mind it does not claim any anti-aging or skin perfecting benefits.)
  • Overall: For me the price is worth this product. It doesn't make me breakout which is a problem I have had with other "gentle" moisturizers like Aveeno. And I love the pump packaging, very sanitary!

Yes to Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser
Info from company website.
  • Cost: $8.99 at Ulta
  • Feel: Liquid, like it says in the name, milky texture. Similar to cetaphil face wash.
  • Smell: Same as the moisturizer. Fake cucumber smell, but it smells great to me!
  • Results: Cleans my skin without leaving it feeling tight or dry like some cleansers do. Usually gets all my makeup up in one pump of cleanser unless I have a lot of eye makeup or waterproof on, of course. I have not seen any change in the quality of my skin though.
  • Overall: It's a great product but I think there are other cleansers out there like Cetaphil knockoff brand Equate that do just as good of a job for a few dollars less. Worth a try if you have very sensitive skin though. Again, love the pump packaging!

Yes to Cucumbers Calming Facial Mask
  • Cost: $1.99 at Ulta (I admit, the cute picture of the cucumber sucked me in.)
  • Feel: Smooth thick texture.
  • Smell: A little stronger of a cucumber smell than the others.
  • Results: Let me tell ya, this was anything but calming for my skin. I only used half a pack. As soon as I put in on my face started burning so I had to take it off sooner than the package recommended. Sensitive skin people beware of this issue.
  • Overall: I wouldn't repurchase because my skin did not react well. Another option I can give, and one that I used up I liked it so much, is the Botanics Ionic Clay Mask (at Target for $9.39.)

Kitten Playtime || chelseahkitty

Even though I've spent a lot on toys my kittens seem to like cardboard boxes, paper bags, and my iphone charger more than anything! If you have any suggestions or toys that your kittens love please leave a comment below. Here are a few cute pictures of them playing/fighting over toys:

Grandma-cat got them this bag and they loved it!
Scratching board..with catnip inside. (5$ at walmart)
Another toy from Grandma-cat!

Tunnel and cube from Petsmart. They chase each other through this alllll day.

"Just doing my makeup mom."
Couldn't find Nala..she was in my drawer.

Another time I couldn't find closet organizer.

Special thanks to Grandma-cat (my mom) for the frog and paper bag.
If you have a kitten/cat blog I'd love to follow-for-follow you so please leave a comment!
Thanks for reading, have to go find Nala now...

Meet Nala and Kiba! || chelseahkitty

On May 31, 2013 I adopted the most beautiful kittens I've ever seen! [It's taken me so long to get this blog post up because they sit on my laptop every single time I try to do it haha] Their names are Nala and Kiba. They are 2 month old tabby/calico mix sisters. Nala is a manx so she doesn't have a tail, only a little stub. I bought them from a local rescue organization. They (and their mom, who is also a manx) were rescued from a shelter and (I think) their mom gave birth to them while in the shelter. They are the wildest, craziest kittens I've ever dealt with but I love them! Links to all their social media pages will be at the bottom :)

Here are a few pictures:
Nala right after I brought her home

Kiba exploring her new home.

Coral Summer Nails! || chelseahkitty

This is the new Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in the shade 240 Coral Silk

Price: $4.94 at Walmart
Formula: The polish is very opaque and only needs 2 coats to look great. Actually, I like the formula better than more expensive brands like Essie.
Finish: It has lasted 3 days on my nails with no chips so far, which is unheard of on my nails. I don't have a topcoat on either because the polish, or gloss, was already shiny and looked fine.
Color: The color does look a little darker and more orange-y than coral on the nails but it is still a great summer nail polish worth trying. And it looks great with a tan.

I am not the most skilled nail-painter but here are some pictures of my nails with the polish on in natural sunlight:

Have you tried any of the other colors in this line? Since I liked this one so much I'm dying to try some more colors and see if they're just as good. As always, thanks for reading! If you'd like me to try anything out and review it please leave a comment :)

L'Oreal Lumi Foundation Review || chelseahkitty

True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Foundation by L'Oreal

I've been wearing this foundation for about a month now. At first it was a little too dark for me but as I spent more time in the sun it matched right up. I am in the shade W4 Natural Beige and apply it using the Real Techniques stippling brush. Underneath I wear a moisturizer and primer. Sometimes I top it off with a spray of e.l.f. makeup setting spray. (Keep in mind I have dry & sensitive skin with lots of freckles! Not everyone's skin will look or react the same.) Here's my review:

Photo: shade W4 Natural Beige in natural sunlight
$12.99 (at Ulta)

Light-Medium. A bit more than a TM or BB.

Amazing shade range! They have a total of 15 warm (W), cool (C), and neutral (N) tones.

Easily blendable. Also, I did not notice any makeup-y or sunscreen smell to this.

Satin or dewy. Definitely not matte. Makes my skin look glowy but not too real skin! Doesn't feel heavy on the skin.

In my opinion it is as good if not better than some high-end foundations.

Skin benefits:
The L'oreal website claims this is safe for sensitive skin. It has not broken me out at all and I have pretty sensitive skin. SPF of 20. The website also says it contains antioxidants and vitamins.

In conclusion...I loved it!
Looks natural/not cakey. Easy to blend. Love the glowing finish it gives. Cheap compared to high end. Has SPF 20. Good for sensitive skin and dry skin.
<---It has a pump!!! I think it's a great lighter weight summer foundation because it looks natural and doesn't feel heavy on the skin at all.
Cons: Does not last all day, but that would be a miracle anyway. I use a primer--Bare Minerals "Prime Time" and it seems to help extend wear. Might not be the best for oily skin. Animal testing :(

If you tried it, how did you like the Lumi foundation? Have you found any foundations comparable to this one? (As always, I'm looking for one that does not do animal testing.) Feel free to ask any questions or leave suggestions in the comments!

Thanks for reading :)

Quick Haul || chelseahkitty

Quick Haul: Old Navy & Walmart--workout clothes and beauty products

~I have never bought or tried running/workout clothes from old navy but they seem like great quality and are very comfortable. Also, much easier on the wallet than expensive brands.

Running tee [On sale for $10]
Sports bras [On sale for buy 2 get for $10/ea, so $20 for both; Reg ~$16 each.]

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr
#10 Precious Pearl
#30 Icy Mint
[$5.94 each]

~I was so happy to find the last two of these colors in the Maybelline Color Tattoo Limited Editions! (Be careful, some of them at my Walmart had been opened and tampered with. They should have a clear plastic seal around the glass pot so it can't be opened.) I already own "Bad to the Bronze" so I can't wait to try these. The formula really is the longest lasting eyeshadow I've ever used and goes on so smooth. After swatching, I think the pearl color would work great as a highlight. And maybe my old one is just dried up but these seem more creamy and smooth.

TRESemme Volume Shampoo
TRESemme Moisture Conditioner
[$3.48 each]
Suave Clarifying Shampoo

~Just some stuff I needed to pick up. I've had luck with TRESemme shampoos before, so I picked up the volume one because I have long hair that tends to lay flat on top and the moisture conditioner because I have blonde ombre so my ends are pretty dry sometimes. The clarifying shampoo is one I picked up because of bloggers raving about it because it's cheap and gets the job done for once-a-week deep cleaning of hair. I previously used the Deep Clean green shampoo from Herbal Essences.

Do you have any of these products? Want me to give a full review on them? Have an idea or product you would like me to write about? (I currently do posts on fitness, food, beauty products, fashion, and photography.)
Let me know in the comments!

e.l.f. HAUL || chelseahkitty

Earlier this month e.l.f. ( was having an event for free shipping on orders over $25. I had gone to Target because they do sell some e.l.f. products but I couldn't find any of the studio brushes or the setting spray people have raved about..turns out they only sell these things online! I think e.l.f. has great quality for the price, especially some of the brushes.

Ok, so here are the products I ordered:

Brushes: (in order from left to right in the picture above.)
  • Flawless Concealer Brush
    • Great for under-eye concealing. NOT for concealing blemishes, it's larger than it looks.
  • Small Tapered Brush
    • I use this for highlighting my cheekbones using one of the blushes I bought. Could also be great for contouring since its small and fluffy.
  • Small Angled Brush
    • The first time I went to use this a TON of the hairs fell out..maybe I got a bad one. It still works great for applying cream eyeliner though.
  • HD Blush in "Superstar"
    • I haven't used this one on my face yet, but testing it on my hand it is VERY pigmented (as in, a pea size would be enough to cover like..your entire face!)
  • Blush in "Pink Passion"
    • Great everyday color.
  • Baked Blush in "Rich Rose"
    • Just a pink blush with gold shimmer.
  • Baked Blush in "Pinktastic"
    • This could never be used as a blush, but I didn't buy it to use as a blush anyway. I use it as a highlighter because it's a very pretty pale/light tan shimmer.
  • Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil (Teal)
  • Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (Black)
  • Makeup Mist & Set
    • Spray it on after you've applied all your makeup or just to refresh your face during the day. I've noticed if my face feels cakey from powder I can spray this and it helps make it look more dewy.

Cost: All items were 3$ each except the eyeliners which were $1 each.
If you'd like a more detailed review or picture for a certain product/s just comment below and I will get to it ASAP.

DIY: Potion Pendant || chelseahkitty

Here is all the info you'll need to make your own potion pendant!
Once you have all the supplies, it takes about 30 minutes to make the actual pendant.
All items were purchased at Michael's craft store except for the food coloring, which I finally found at Walmart in the spices section..weird.
The total cost was about $30.00, but I can make a lot of these with the supplies I got.

You will need these items:

Step 1: Choose a glass bottle.

Step 2: Prepare the cork.
  • Use a wire cutter to shorten the eye pin to fit the length of the cork.

  • Push the eye pin all the way into the cork.

  • Hook a jump ring to the eye pin. (So you can string a chain through it later.)

Step 3: Add charms.
  • Wrap wire around the top of the jar. Add charms by stringing them through the wire itself (what I did) or by adding jump rings to the wire then adding charms to the jump rings.

Step 4: Prepare your potion.
  • Add a few drops of liquid food coloring to clear glue and mix.

  • Carefully pour this mixture into the bottle.

Step 5: Secure the top.
  • Put super glue along the bottom rim of the cork and put the cork in.

Step 6: Chain the jump ring
  • Depending on the chain, you might also need to buy a clasp.

I'll be making a lot more of these soon, so I'll probably do another blog post of just pictures of different ones I come up with.

Thanks for reading!
If you make one be sure to tweet me a picture of it!
You can also send me suggestions for future blog posts there :)
